An essential part of Breakthrough’s mission is its dedication to the "Students Teaching Students" model. To fulfill that mission, Breakthrough Long Island recruits motivated students from colleges and universities across the country.
Every year we look for teachers who are dedicated to the process of education, whether or not they are planning a career in education. Breakthrough teachers are real teachers; they are entrusted with their own classrooms and students. Teaching at Breakthrough is a learning experience for both the students and the faculty.
During the summer of 2007, BTLI is proud to offer its teachers the opportunity to gain 10 hours of professional development through Hofstra University’s School of Education and Allied Human Services. SEAHS professors will conduct professional development sessions during Orientation Week, as well as specific training opportunities each week during the summer session.
