Our Breakthrough superstars are rising 7th and 8th grade students attending schools in the districts of Glen Cove, Roosevelt, Hempstead, Uniondale, Wantagh and Westbury. Our students are "A-B" students, school leaders, involved in extracurricular activities and proactive in their educational careers. Breakthrough’s student demographics reflect the communities in which we live.

How does one become a Breakthrough student?
Every middle school student should be a Breakthrough student. To join our community of scholars, please follow the instructions below:
  1. Call the office to request an application (please note: applications are available starting in January).
  2. Once you receive an application, complete it in its entirety. The application requirements are as follows: completion of parent and student sections, two teacher recommendations, two compositions, request for transcripts.
  3. Submit your application.
  4. You will be contacted regarding an interview.
  5. Attend an interview and take a skills test.
  6. Wait for a letter of response from Breakthrough.
